Callisto to Undertake Cryogenic Study for NRAO ngVLA project

Callisto is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) in the USA for the next generation Very Large Array (ngVLA) project.

Callisto has been tasked with a thermal design study for the cryogenic receivers for the ngVLA. The ngVLA project aims to extend the sensitivity and capability of the VLA Radio Telescope in New Mexico by a factor of 10, and extend the frequency range from 1.2 to 116 GHz. Up to 214 x 18m diameter telescopes will be added to the existing array, each having two multi-band cryogenic receivers. Callisto will be undertaking thermal analysis and simulation of the cryogenic enclosures in support to the NRAO design team.
