Callisto is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a contract by
Thales Alenia Space, Toulouse to supply Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs)
operating in the 25.5 to 27 GHz Band for the Meteosat Third Generation
(MTG) project.
The LNAs will be installed in four antennas making up the Missions Data Acquisition ground stations for MTG. The order comprises the LNAs as well as redundancy switching components and associated Controller/Power Supply units.
The 25.5 to 27 GHz frequency band has only recently been allocated by the ITU for satellite operations of Earth Observation satellites. Due to increasing demands for higher data resolution from EO satellites this new downlink frequency band has been allocated to provide sufficient bandwidth for future requirements. MTG is one of the first European EO satellite programmes which will use this new frequency band.
Callisto has developed the 25.5 to 27 GHz LNAs and associated products over the past five years with the help of ESA GSTP funding supported by CNES and the French delegation to ESA. This order represents a significant milestone for Callisto which is following a strategy of diversification into main stream satellite communications products, in parallel to its continuing activity of supplying specialised cryogenic LNAs for Deep Space and Radio Astronomy.
Callisto wishes to thank the staff of ESA-ESOC (HSO-GSS) and CNES (DSP/ITV) for their support during the development of these products.
