Callisto has been awarded a sub-contract by SED Systems of Saskatoon, Canada to supply cryogenic LNAs for ESA's third deep space ground station, which will be built in Argentina. SED Systems are the prime contractor for the project and Callisto will supply the critical cryo LNA sub-system comprising three X-Band amplifiers, with an option for an addition set of Ka-Band amplifiers.
Callisto has already supplied the cryo LNAs sub-systems for the previous two deep space stations, the first (DSA1) located in Western Australia and the second (DSA2) located in Spain. DSA3 is to be built near the small town of Malargue in Mendoza province about 1000 km west of Buenos Aires.
The DSA3 project has recently passed a critical design review stage. Callisto is now gearing up for production and the first batch of amplifiers are due to be delivered early in 2011.
